Fund-a-Cause Playground Renovations
You may have already heard that Tigerfest’s Fund-A-Cause is the second Phase of the playground renovations. We wanted to take a minute to share what we presented and ask you to support this effort if you can.
In evaluating our playground renovation plans for this summer, we recognized two existing practices needed attention: three and four year-olds are using the playground further from the building and crossing two driveways, and no one over fourth grade is using any of the equipment because the older student playground is not adjacent to the fields where they play.
In discussing various possibilities, we recognized it would make more sense if the littlest students, Montessori, Pre-K and K, use the play area closest to the building and the older students use the front playground with its adjacent field. The discussion led to the conclusion that since we’re renovating the playgrounds, why don’t we flip them to improve safety as well as usage before we add some equipment for each age group?
You will recall that last year’s Phase I dealt with safety issues and parental requests, specifically removing or retrofitting certain play equipment, installing fencing, and replacing the infamous rubber mulch with engineered wood fiber.
Our new REIMAGINED Phase II is all about increasing the fun factor, usage, and safety for ALL our students from three year-olds to eighth graders! First we will flip the existing large structures so that the playground closest to the building serves all of our 3, 4, and 5 year-olds while the one adjacent to the front fields will be for the older students.
For the car line playground we will be adding a new, large play structure (perfect for our littlest climbers and adventurers), 2 new playhouses, and relocating the existing play structure and dinosaur climber from the front playground. This will all be designed to provide a better supervision sight line and allow the children more room to run.
For our older students we will be relocating the large play structure from their current playground and adding a new double tire swing, a Spinami, a balance beam, and a Gaga Pit! Gaga is all the rage at camps and playgrounds and will be a welcome addition at recess. It is a fun activity that is all-inclusive and a great energy burn! We are also hoping to add volleyball nets, soccer goals, 4 square, a knockout court, benches and storage.
If you would like to make a really big impact, playground naming rights for either playground are available for individuals or groups. Please contact us for information if you are interested in that opportunity.
With your help, we will raise money to support this project and guarantee its completion. Please make a donation to support this major campus renovation which will leave a lasting legacy for many years to come. All donations, large and small, are appreciated.
